We have eight homes lined up for the September 30 FHA Tour, and two tickets have already been sold. We plan to open a total of 15 homes on East and West Piers, A Dock, Issaquah, and Yellow Ferry.
When we first set the tour date, the Tour Committee set three priorities: favorable tides, minimal conflicts with other local events, and avoiding the Jewish holidays. Unfortunately, we read our calendar incorrectly when choosing September 30, and by the time we discovered our mistake too many wheels had been set in motion to change the date. We hope our neighbors who observe Yom Kippur will bear with us on the September 30, and we pledge to be more diligent when setting tour dates in the future.
This year we’ll tie the tour in with the ongoing celebration of the 75th anniversary of Marinship, and plan to feature some open homes from the 40s. If you know of vintage homes on any of the five participating docks, please contact Jane Clinton or Michelle Affronte.
We’ll also feature vintage music, and a 40s costume contest for volunteers (with tour attendees encouraged to wear period clothes, as well).
Tickets may be purchased in advance HERE.
The tour is totally run by volunteers, and volunteers from outside the community are welcome. Volunteers receive a free ticket to the tour and are invited to the volunteer after party. To volunteer click HERE.
A portion of the net proceeds of the tour will again be shared with the Friends of the Marin City Library and Sausalito Village, which have provided many seasoned volunteers over the years.
