The Gate 5 Area Drainage Management Study is a City of Sausalito initiative to address chronic flooding and sea level rise risks in the Marinship/Gate 5 Road corridor, which includes the southernmost floating home docks. The effort focuses on locations currently affected by storm events, coastal flooding, and aging drainage infrastructure.
On April 29 the City hosted an open house at the Bay Model to share various approaches to flooding and sea level rise, and to gather public feedback on proposed solutions.
The project area covers Gate 5 Road and adjacent waterfront lands, a district with industrial, commercial, and natural shoreline uses that are central to Sausalito’s identity.
The feasibility analysis and conceptual design work will continue through 2026. Future phases will proceed as the study concludes and additional funding becomes available.
Project Goals
