How many unwanted drugs are in your medicine cabinet?  |  reposted from Currents  |  photo by Larry Clinton

Marin Health and Human Services has declared the entire month of October as Drug Take-Back Month, according to Sausalito Currents. Marin residents are encouraged to deposit unused and unwanted medications at one of 24 receptacles located around the county. The receptacle closest to Sausalito is located at the CVS Pharmacy at 150 Donahue Street in Marin City. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends.

According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study showed that a majority of misused prescription opioid medications were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Medicines that languish and are left in unlocked locations are highly susceptible to diversion and misuse. Dispose of your unwanted and unneeded prescription medications safely and conveniently—search for medication drop-off sites in Marin county.
