Greasers & Floaters

Over 70 folks found their way to the WPH Lagoon—in kayaks, SUPs, rafts, inflatables, and other small craft—to watch the movie Grease on a warm spring evening. A large screen was hung from the roof of Daren Joy’s Liberty Dock home and neighbors crowded their floats to join the fun.

Some attendees, like Julie Durbin and Ed Lopez, came from seeing the stage version of the show that afternoon at the Mountain Play. Poodle skirts and DA haircuts were the uniforms of the day, and everyone enjoyed singing along to the familiar refrains of chestnuts like “Beauty School Dropout” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You.”

Event producers Steve Sekhon and Daren Joy reported that “The consensus among the flotilla is that the movie should happen more frequently!”  If you have any recommendations for a fun flick that might work for Sausalito’s only movie theater, send your suggestions to Steve.
