Beautify the Earth on Earth Day April 22

Bits of plastic line the edges of the Marsh in Marin City  |  photo and post by Jen Gennari, environmental committee

Why not get a little muddy this Earth Day? Founded in 1970, this year’s day of environmental action is targeting plastic. We all know the terrible things that plastic is doing to our bodies, our bay, and our wildlife. Removing plastic waste is a great thing to do on Sunday, April 22.

Clean-up Spot #5: The MARSHLAND at Target, at the Gateway Shopping Center (1/2 mile)

Sausalito and Marin City residents are invited to help clean up the local landscape on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22. From 9:00 a.m. until noon, we’ll walk together to clean up our community.

One of the five clean-up spots this year is the marsh near Marin City. If you’d like to participate, sign up for a clean-up location. The marsh is #5; meet in the Target parking lot.

Wear boots! Gloves, buckets, and burlap bags will be supplied but please bring your own gardening gloves and buckets to hold the trash, if you have them.

After the clean-up, there will be a free pizza party at the Bay Model with Earth Day festivities. Earth Day 94965 is sponsored by the Sausalito Woman’s Club, with many local supporting partners.
