The Sausalito Floating Homes Virtual Gala and Tour kicked off with a bang on Saturday, May 1, as bands played on Kappas Green to be filmed for appearances during the June 9 webcast.

Tickets are $35 per individual and $60 per household, and also available at four VIP tiers for those who want to contribute additional support for the floating homes community and our nonprofit beneficiaries. Each VIP tier comes with exciting perks specific to that supporter level.

A limited number of $25 scholarship tickets have been set aside for community members with financial need. To purchase one for yourself or someone else, contact the FHA and be sure to include your dock address and that of any neighbor you designate.

Magician Jay Alexander Will Emcee

Master magician and comic Jay Alexander, from West Pier, will serve as master of ceremonies throughout the webcast, keeping the evening’s excitement proceeding at a brisk and entertaining pace.

Kudos to Volunteers

Many volunteers have come together to launch this first-of-its kind event. Michele Affronte lined up six diverse and fabulous homes for the virtual tour. The owners of those homes will describe their unique residences during the Gala: Henry Baer and Jenny Silva, Ryan Phelan, Arleen Ma and Scott Collins, Marka Hansen, event co-chair Julie Durbin, and Ed Lopez. Mike Lewis shot exterior photos of the homes for future marketing efforts.

Julie Durbin, Ted Sempliner and Barbara Rycerski have already rounded up over $6,500 in sponsorships, with more in the works.

The Marketing team consists of: Danielle Gray, graphic design; Daphne Pearson, communications; Devon Soifer, social media; Scott and Arleen, Media Relations; and Kelly English. Their work is just beginning, with the issuing of our first news release.

The gala, like our past live tours, will be the major funding vehicle for the FHA. We will also be sharing a portion of our net proceeds with local nonprofits: Performing Stars of Marin, Friends of the Marin City Library, and the Bay Area Muscular Dystrophy Association.

How You Can Help

Like our pages on Facebook, Instagram and other social media and share them with your contacts. If you have an item or a service that could attract bidders in our live and silent auctions, please let us know. We continue to hold auction brainstorming meetings on Zoom. But most of all, please join us from 6:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9.  Let’s rock this gala!
