Historical Society Offers Docent Opportunities

The Ice House is now an interactive museum | rendering from Sausalito Historical Society | post by Larry Clinton

If you have an interest in Sausalito history, opportunities are open to be a docent for the Sausalito Historical Society at two different locations:

Docent at the Research Room, City Hall

The SHS Research Room is open to the public on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

The docent assists researchers who come in. You would receive training and work with an existing docent until you feel comfortable being on your own. It’s a great way to learn more about Sausalito!

Docent at the Ice House, 780 Bridgeway

The Ice House interactive museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The docent greets visitors to the museum and answers questions about the exhibit and the town. You would receive training and work with an existing docent until you feel comfortable working on your own.

On a personal note, I have been docenting at the Ice House for several months now and have enjoyed meeting locals and visitors from all over the globe who share a curiosity about Sausalito’s colorful past.

If you are interested in either of these docent opportunities, please contact the Historical Society by email or phone.
