Here are some of the items that were discussed or decided at the March 8 FHA Board Meeting. More details will be reported later in the Floating Times.

  • The Board is looking into a venue for in-person monthly meetings.
  • Treasurer Tracy Corbin will be sending out a dock reimbursement form to all dock reps. The form will be submitted to the FHA by the dock rep for reimbursement for dock activities.
  • Attendance at the February 17 FHA Annual Meeting was 103. The Board acknowledged the two guest speakers, Sausalito Mayor Janelle Kellman and County Supervisor Stephanie Moulton-Peters for very informative presentations of “The Lowdown on Sea Level Rise.” However, in the interest of covering the complete agenda, it was agreed that one speaker or panel would be preferable for future meetings.
  • FHA VP Pete Hudson announced that the FHA’s free Day in the Park will be May 22. He is looking for volunteers to help plan the event.
  • The Board has received communications from other Bay Area floating home communities regarding berth rent increases. Sasha Cole (Commodore alternate rep) will follow up.
  • Issaquah dock rep John Ryan reported that filming for a movie version of the novel The Last Thing He Told Me will take place on the dock this summer.
  • West Pier dock rep Aislyn Green sent out a survey to find out who would want to a rent spot in a covered, secure enclosure for their bike(s).
  • Commodore dock rep Monica Morant noted that her dock puts on birthday parties tied to residents’ astrological signs.
  • East Pier hosts Wine Down parties at 5 pm on Fridays. The dock has also sponsored a table for Sausalito Jazz by the Bay this summer; dock residents can reserve a spot at $10 per chair.
  • Webmaster Jim Rettew is streamlining the online membership process.
  • Emergency preparedness videos are available to FHA members in the Resources section of the website, including a link to a Firewise video on how neighbors can work together to fortify their homes against fire.
