FHA Events Chair BettyAnn Kram has lined up a full slate of entertainment for Day in the Park May 3, showcasing musicians, poets, authors, storytellers and informative speakers. Keynote speaker will be Mike McKinley, Emergency Services Coordinator for the City of Sausalito. McKinley was recommended by Vice-Mayor Melissa Blaustein during her recent comments at the FHA Annual Meeting: “Mike McKinley has had many decades at the San Francisco Fire Department, and now he’s our dedicated emergency manager.”
Mckinley told the Floating Times that he will describe how Sausalito, in conjunction with other Marin agencies, will respond to various types of hazards, including landslides, floods and earthquakes, and he will review lessons from the New Years weekend flooding.
Other DITP highlights scheduled so far:
- Paella from Davey Jones
- Refreshments from TVE Juice
- A bicycling balloon man
- Cornhole competitions
- Artists’ alley featuring the works of 15 local artisans and craftspeople
- A tribute to Issaquah Dock legend Annie Sutter
- More fun to come!
This year’s DITP will be a kid and dog friendly community picnic, so neighbors are invited to bring a blanket and your own food and beverages, if you prefer — especially wine or beer, which won’t be sold onsite.
Volunteers are still needed for setup and cleanup. Choose your shift on our volunteer website.
Day in the Park will be Sunday, May 3 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Waldo Point Harbor’s Van Damme Park (the park between Charles Van Damme Dock and Issaquah Dock). Save the date and stay tuned for further details about participating artists, entertainers and sponsors.
