Earlier this month Elana Yonah of East Pier and Joey Carlin of Liberty Dock co-hosted an acrobatic performance by ShiftShapers, a troupe of touring artists collaborating to inspire and shape the shift needed in the world through art performance and activism.
The water-access performance, “Uprise Skyward,” was quite an extravaganza, with performers wearing costumes of feathers, plus a singer and poet. ShiftShapers’ inaugural performance was staged on the rooftop of Joey Carlin’s home at 13 Liberty, as well as on a water bike on the tranquil waters of the Waldo Point Harbor lagoon.
The troupe consisted of poet Casey Otter Cushing, aerialist Erin Jane Carey and vocalist Joanna Wallfisch. They are accepting donations in appreciation of their performance, with 10% of all proceeds going to Trap the Vote, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that encourages diverse youth to vote. Venmo account holders can donate to @shiftshapers, or you can write a check to ShiftShapers c/o Erin Carey and drop it off with, or send it to, Elana Yonah, 7 East Pier, Sausalito, CA 94965.
