Nearly half of the 500 advance tickets being offered for our September 24 Open Homes Tour have already been sold—before we’ve even issued our first press release. Congratulations to JoAnn Dunaway for arranging for two busloads of folks from the Sacramento area, and to our social media pros, Windy Baldridge and Devon Pettengill, for generating sales via the Internet. If you know anyone who’s interested in attending this year, please advise them to go to our website and purchase tickets NOW.
We have a full complement of open homes on Main, Liberty and South 40 docks, thanks to the efforts of Jane Clinton and Michele Affronte—and to the generosity of the participating homeowners. At least 5 of this year’s homes will be on the tour for the first time.
Volunteer signups are being accepted at SignUp. The earlier you register, the better your chance of getting your first choice of assignment and shift. Volunteers work a half day, and get to take the tour for free. They’ll also get a free commemorative t-shirt and an invitation to a free volunteer thank-you party, catered by Whole Foods, immediately after the tour.
We’re lining up a full slate of food, refreshments and entertainment on Kappas Green: local artists, writers and artisans, as well as exhibits by waterfront nonprofits. To participate, or to recommend a worthy nonprofit, contact Teddie Hathaway: teddie@teddiehathaway.com
Julie Durbin is scheduling live music all day and for the post-tour volunteer party. Parking for the Tour will once again be across the freeway at the Gateway Center, with shuttle bus service available from 9:30 AM (for morning volunteers) until the volunteer party ends at 6:00 PM. A shuttle will also run from Kappas Green to Liberty Dock, where folks can take an easy walk to any of the open homes.
This is always a fun day for all—attendees and volunteers alike. We hope you’ll join us for the biggest community event of the year.
