Strategies & Resources for Coping with the Pandemic

Jane Clinton delivers flyers on Gate 6 1/2 | photo and post by Larry Clinton

In an effort to reach every resident in Sausalito and the floating homes community during our shelter in place, the City has created door hangers to be delivered to every residence. The door hangers have important information about accessing basic needs such as food and medications as well as hot line numbers including domestic violence and suicide prevention.

Emergency Services Chair Flo Hoylman distributed them to volunteers on every dock for delivery  to all occupied homes. In case yours went missing, or if you’d like to share it with someone else, here’s the text, which you can copy and paste into a word processing document:

The COVID-19 outbreak is changing life for all of us. You may feel anxious, stressed, worried, sad, bored, depressed, lonely, or frustrated in these circumstances. You’re not alone.
Here are some strategies for managing stress:

  • Be mindful of your intake of information from news sources about the virus and consider taking breaks from it
  • Maintain supportive relationships with friends and family via phone, text, or internet
  • Treat your body kindly: eat healthy foods, avoid excessive alcohol, and exercise as you are able
  • Call your healthcare provider if your anxiety interferes with your daily activities

The reverse side of the flyer cpntains a resource guide of local, state, and national organizations that are helping to support our well-being during this difficult time:
