Joe Novitski of Kappas Marina has been named chair of the FHA’s Legislative Action Committee (LAC). The committee will consider, research and actively represent the common interests of our community concerning pending and future legislative and regulatory issues at the county and state government levels. It consists of representatives from every dock in our community.

Born in Manila, Joe was raised in Northern California, as well as South Africa and Peru. After graduating from Yale, he served as a naval line officer in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean.

After graduate studies, Joe began a career in journalism with The Associated Press in New York. Later he joined the foreign staff of The New York Times, and has free-lanced for The Washington Post and International Herald Tribune. He is the author of two books and is currently working on two more.

When he bought his floating home on East Pier, Joe was pleased to learn that his neighbor was a Yale classmate, Wilford Welch. Wilford now serves as co-chair of the committee.
