New, Smaller Tour in 2016

The Tour Committee has scheduled next year’s Open Homes Tour for Saturday, September 24. As noted elsewhere, the tour will be smaller, to lessen the impact on the community and volunteers.

In addition to providing the major source of funding for the Floating Homes Association, the annual tour benefits local nonprofits, which in turn provide many of the 200+ volunteers needed to put on the tour.

On November 8, Mari Steeno distributed the first of two donations. (Quid Pro Quo – FHA | Sausalito Village). Sausalito Village will use the funds to offer scholarships to its senior members, complete background checks on Village volunteers, and to continue ongoing programs such as presentations, events and trips.

Two weeks later FHA President Katherine Boschetto made an identical $3,300 donation to the Friends of the Marin City Library during one of their regular monthly meetings at the library. These funds will be used for outreach programs to local residents (particularly MLK Jr. Academy students and teachers); a 3D printer program, urban lit collection, magazine subscriptions, author and speaker events and Webstar computer training at the library.

See you in September. Mark your calendars: Sept. 24, 2016
