Neighbors Helping Neighbors

The Southern Marin Fire District has launched a new website for the Southern Marin Neighborhood Response Group (NRG) program. The NRG program helps connect individuals and neighborhoods to resources, education, and training that will help them to prepare them for and respond to emergencies and disasters. In the event of an emergency, the new site is not monitored. Current emergency information will be available through the County.

A Neighborhood Response Group can be 2 households or a group of 10 to 20 households.  Groups could be established on each dock in our community.

Volunteer Block Captains are the backbone of the program: they are responsible for reaching out to neighbors, finding out what support neighbors need, and who can offer assistance or resources in a disaster.

There’s a small number of individual Block Captains across Sausalito, and through partnerships with groups like Sausalito Village and the FHA, the program is expected to expand.

If you are interested in becoming a Block Captain and organizing an NRG on your dock, contact Emergency Services Chair Flo Hoylman.
