Long-time Gate 6 ½ resident Patti Bott has been elected Commodore of the Sausalito Yacht Club. Patti rose through the ranks at the 82-year old club, serving as a flag officer after stints on the Race Committee and on the board of the Sausalito Youth Sailing Foundation for several years, helping to raise money for sailing education and scholarships for children. She has participated in SYC sailing charters to Thailand, Greece, and Spain as well as chartering in the Chesapeake and San Juan Islands.

Recently, Patti has shared a Hunter 335 with her partner, Eric Meister. She will lead the SYC through 2024, with the opportunity to run for re-election.

Helping Patti to celebrate at her induction ceremony January 7 were Eric and Gate 6 ½ neighbors Blaise Simpson, Lori Bergeron, Claudia Kelly, plus my wife Jane and myself.

Another Gate 6 ½-er, Karen Tischler, stepped away from the position of SYC secretary after six years of service. She will continue volunteering at the SYC’s ship’s store. Her partner Ern Morgan recently retired after 30 years behind the yacht club bar, with its million-dollar views.

The following video, by Blaise Simpson, shows Patti raising the Yacht Club flag during her induction.
