The Floating Homes Association’s spring Day in the Park will be bigger and better than ever. Here’s an advance look at some of the attractions and activities that have been added so far:

Assemblymember Damon Connolly’s office will staff a State Services Booth with information about community resources such as fire safety and legislative process coloring books and crayons for kids, veterans’ resource guides, and state agency brochures.

Krystal Gambi of Waterfront Wonders is lining up new artists to display and sell their wares. Julie Durbin is lining up new musical acts to entertain all day. More info to come!

For kids, in addition to our usual activities like face painting and art lessons there will be a tug o’ war and some adorable tiny horses to admire. There’ll also be a puppet show and lemonade stand.

A costume contest for people and pets will showcase fanciful outfits.

Davey Jones will serve chicken and veggie kabobs with rice and salad. Local cub scouts will sell gourmet hot dogs. The popular bake-off and sale will return with lots of new goodies.

There will be drinks to purchase, including a selection of fine wines for adults. Sausalito-based Big Baby Colombian Coffee will dispense hot java.

In place of a silent auction, there will be a pickle jar drawing for exciting local prizes. Tickets will be sold for $5 each. The more you buy, the better your chance of winning the prize of your choice.

The FHA will sell tickets you can use to for entering the drawing or to purchase food and beverages. Cash will be accepted in payment for tickets, but not at the booths. Some booths will have Square or QR codes for payment.

Of course, there will be plenty of information from the FHA, local nonprofits and sponsors.

Those who become members of the FHA during the event will receive a complimentary drawing ticket.

Plenty of volunteers are needed to make all this happen. Volunteer shifts will allow volunteers to enjoy the rest of the day, and volunteers will also receive a drawing ticket with our thanks. Visit the FHA signup site to find a job and time slot that works for you.
