According to HGTV, California has limited toilet flushes to a mere 1.28 gallons per flush. That limit is now the standard for the current generation of “high-efficiency” toilets (HET) that earn a WaterSense certification from the EPA.
The Marin Municipal Water District is encouraging customers to replace old toilets with new high-efficiency models by offering them rebates up to $150 per replaced model. Toilets must be on the MaP PREMIUM list of fixtures with an effective flush volume of no more than 1.10 gallons. An application form and instructions on how to check the flush volume of an existing toilet are available on the Marin Water website: https://www.marinwater.org/rebates.
