FHA Board Meeting Notes – July 2018

Birds of a feather? | photo and post by Larry Clinton

TO KEEP EVERYONE UP TO DATE ON WHAT THE FHA BOARD IS DOING, HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED OR DECIDED AT THE July 10 BOARD MEETING:

  • Jenny Stein mentioned the need to find someone to oversee the ads for the Floating Times, since she will no longer be able to manage this function. Linda will look into enabling advertisers to pay ad fees on PayPal as an alternative to paying by check.
  • Jenny Stein also called for a replacement volunteer to monitor the San Francisco Bay Regional Quality Control Board activities. More details on these two positions will be posted in the Floating Times.
  • Marin County is seeking public input on a new ordinance to regulate short term rentals for unincorporated areas.
  • This year’s Coastal Clean Up is on Saturday, September 15th; the Environmental Committee will organize a cleanup of the waterfront north from Gate 6 Road. The annual fall e-Waste Recycling event will take place a month later on Saturday October 13, at the corner where Gate 6 Road joins Bridgeway.
  • Jenny handed out “Recycle Right” publications and asked dock reps to get them out to their docks.
  • Currently, 59% of resident households are FHA members. East Pier has the highest percentage of members (76%). Dock reps are encouraged to discuss the benefits of FHA membership with all residents, as well as owners.
  • Firefighters have stressed the need to maintain open access to fire hoses and electric/gas shut off areas. Dock reps were asked to check their docks for obstructions.
