HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED AT THE OCT 8 FHA BOARD MEETING. MORE DETAILS WILL BE REPORTED LATER IN THE FLOATING TIMES.

  • FHA Treasurer Linda Futrell reported that year-to-date income of $56,979 is 85% of budget and $52,368 expenses are 72% of budget with a YTD profit of $4,611.00. Cash on hand at the end of October was $31,000. A new budget for 2025 will be presented in February.
  • FHA President Pete Hudson announced that Karen Tischler (Gate 6 ½) has been nominated for FHA secretary. As of the meeting date, nominations were still open for President and Vice President.
  • Dock reps who do not plan to repeat their terms are asked to arrange for replacements.
  • Pete is pursuing a symposium on ferro-cement barges, including inspections, repairs and the prospects for building new ones. Court Mast (Kappas W.) has been researching the effectiveness of zinc anodes for preventing corrosion of rebar and would participate in the symposium.
  • Legislative Action Committee Chair Sasha Cole (Commodore) reported that the LAC has had productive meetings with Waldo Point Harbor and Kappas Marina officials. A draft amendment to the Floating Homes Residency Law has been shared with each marina and, when agreed to by all parties, will be submitted to residents for their input.
  • Pete also announced that the FHA website has been updated with current information on private tours, and an online application form for interested parties to request a tour. Posters from the September shoreline adaptation event in Sausalito have been added to this site as well.
