TO KEEP EVERYONE UP TO DATE ON WHAT THE FHA BOARD IS DOING, HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED OR DECIDED AT THE May BOARD MEETING:
The Board approved a budget that calls for net income of $6,000 by year end.
Vice President Taylor Ray spoke about the need to set priorities for our work in 2019. Two emerging priorities are community-building events and educational events (like workshops). She asked that dock reps solicit their members and the discussion will be finalized at the next meeting in June.
Following a presentation on the Resilient Neighbors Program, a discussion was held about the FHA participating in this program as one of the major FHA activities of 2019. Emergency Services Chair Flo Hoylman collected names of board members who want to take part on a team which will participate in five meetings over a ten-week period. The goal is to get as many residents and docks involved as possible going forward. Look for more information in your email and in the Floating Times.
The Board ratified an Executive Committee vote to buy 28 new shopping carts. The budget is $3,000.
Carole Angermeir is continuing to compile a list of floating home service providers which dock reps will be able to share with their neighbors. If you know of a good plumber, electrician, hull repairman or other provider, please send the contact information to your dock rep.
No one responded to last month’s call for someone to coordinate the Humming Toadfish Kazoo Marching Band for the 4th of July Parade, so the board agreed not to participate this year.
Amanda Hoeher talked about a leaking water pipe on Liberty Dock that is not getting fixed. It was suggested she get in touch with the County and the Harbor Master.
Public Relations Chair Michele Affronte announced that there will be a private tour for about 60 hotel concierges on May 22. The focus is art in the community.
Barbara Rycerski reported on the progress of the September 14 Open Homes Tour. Candice Gold will lead a walk-through at Waldo Point Park on Friday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. This will be the first time we have used this venue for our tour.
