HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED AT THE AUGUST 12 FHA BOARD MEETING. MORE DETAILS WILL BE REPORTED LATER IN THE FLOATING TIMES.

  • Treasurer Linda Futrell reported that income from sponsorships, membership dues and a $100 donation produced a net profit of $2,459 for the month.  Cash on hand is $11,955.
  • Past President Pete Hudson submitted a discussion draft of elements for a Day in the Park in October. This event will be a celebration of the FHA’s 40th anniversary, and of the Association’s latest major accomplishment: AB 754. Pete’s goal is to offset anticipated expenses with sponsorships and donations. DITP Committee Members Alex Schoer, Pete, Peter Miller and Karen Tischler will reach out to advertisers to request sponsorships.
  • Pete reported that BettyAnn Kram will not be able to chair this year’s event due to travel conflicts, so the FHA is urgently seeking someone to coordinate and promote this DITP. If you can help, please contact Pete.
  • Pete is forming a Website Working Group to provide ideas and support for keeping the FHA website current as a community hub.
  • Public Relations and Marketing chair Julie Durbin announced that on September 17, the FHA will co-host a Chamber of Commerce Mixer at Waterfront Wonders on Caledonia Street.  Krystal Gambie of Waterfront Wonders is managing the food; Julie is managing the beverages, and requests that FHA Board members donate items such as a bottle of wine, beer, water, etc.
  • Julie is also seeking boats to participate in a tour to be raffled off. If you have refreshments you’d like to donate, or would be willing to participate in the tour, please contact Julie. Peter Miller, Larry Clinton Lewis Shireman, Karen Tischler and Julie will be in attendance with information on FHA advertising, private tours, and membership.
  • Pete Hudson and website manager Stanton outlined a project to create and market a self-guided audio walking tour on one or more docks. There would be a kiosk at the end of the dock where people would download an audio tour. Stanton has confirmed strong demand for such tours and predicted they would produce substantial income after startup costs are paid off.
  • Pete, Stanton and Larry will begin testing a web page that will take either monthly or annual donations to support specific projects.
