The joys of floating home living come with their own set of challenges. One of the biggest is maintaining, repairing, or, the worst case scenario, replacing the hull. The types of hulls on floating homes in our community range from concrete barges, plastic floats, metal hulls, or pontoons. Each has their pros and cons. Unless you are rebuilding your boat and have a choice, you are faced with maintaining the existing foundation, which is supporting the thousands of pounds that make up your floating home.
This year, the Floating Homes Association will host its annual meeting online via Zoom. The meeting is scheduled for February 23, 2021. As part of the meeting, we will be presenting a panel discussion on the ins and outs of floating home hulls. Ian Moody, founder and owner of Aquamaison, Robert Morgan of Morgan Construction, and Darren Parker, structural engineer, will join us in addressing questions from our community regarding hulls.
