On Saturday, April 14 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., the Southern Marin Fire Protection District will be hosting Get Ready Sausalito, a community disaster preparedness meeting at the Bay Model, 2100 Bridgeway. Get Ready Sausalito will provide residents with simple steps they can take to prepare for any type of disaster that our region might experience.

The program will begin with a discussion of the North Bay fires and perspectives from firefighters, followed by tips on disaster preparedness, such as signing up for emergency notifications, how to handle an evacuation, and creating defensible space around your home. Representatives will be on hand from the Southern Marin Fire District, the Sausalito Police Department, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Marin County Office of Emergency Management, FIRESafe Marin, and other partner agencies.

At the meeting on April 14, Southern Marin Fire and the City of Sausalito will also launch a community survey on wildfire risk management in Sausalito. A link to the survey will appear on the City website and in Sausalito Currents.
