While discussions continue between the Legislative Action Committee (LAC) and the Sausalito floating home marinas over an amendment to the Floating Homes Residency Law, Assemblymember Damon Connolly is planning to introduce a spot bill as a placeholder for potential legislation modifying AB 252 provisions. This placeholder indicates intent to address the issue but does not commit to any specific legislative solution or language.
Connolly has made clear he will only carry forward legislation that has substantial majority support from the floating home community.
The FHA LAC is actively working with marina owners to reach an agreement. If achieved, the LAC will hold community meetings to discuss the proposal and conduct a vote to gauge community support.
Until then, the language in the spot bill simply reserves a place in the legislative calendar for this potential future legislation, contingent on reaching an agreement.
