The theme of Galilee Harbor’s August 3 Maritime Day is A Salute to Chris Hardman. An innovative artist and pioneering figure in experimental theater, Chris, his wife Annette Rose and their kids were beloved residents of Galilee Harbor and have left an indelible mark on the wider community. An exhibit of Hardman’s masks and props is expected to magically appear in Galilee’s community garden for Maritime Day.

Chris Hardman moved to Sausalito in the early 1970s and lived in an abandoned shipbuilding shed on the waterfront before moving onto a tugboat at Galilee. He founded the Antenna Theater which became a hub of interactive theatrical performances and political activism.

In addition to offering free boat rides on the bay, a display of historic ships, fish & chips and homemade desserts for sale, a raffle featuring local businesses, arts and crafts booths, a kids art table, and several new educational exhibitors, Maritime Day will present a musical lineup with appearances by local hero Joe Tate, The GG Amos Band, The Vivants, and Brazilian jazz and surf music providing an upbeat soundtrack throughout the day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
