The Floating Homes Association’s Day in the Park will be on the lawn between Issaquah and Charles Van Damme Docks on Sunday, May 22, from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. This will be an afternoon of free food, music and lots more. All residents and friends are welcome to attend. Here are ways you and your neighbors can join in the fun:
Dock Sponsored Activities
This year each dock is encouraged to consider sponsoring a snack or drink table, games/activities for kids, or any activity that allows neighbors to come together to represent your dock. If you are interested, please contact FHA VP Pete Hudson.
Artists and Authors Are Welcome
The following waterfront artists and authors have already committed to showing their work on the 22nd:
- Kelley Martel
- Catherine Lyons-Labate
- Donna Bragg
- Melanie Rovens
- Diana Su
- Philippe Haas
- Christopher Jones
- Stephen Ehret
The FHA has designated the concrete path surrounding the lawn for displaying art and promoting authors. If you’d like to take this no-cost opportunity to share your work with your neighbors and friends while we all enjoy the festivities, please plan on bringing any equipment (easels, tables, chairs) and setting up at 11:00 a.m. If you have any questions and are interested in participating, please contact FHA President Michael Labate.
Volunteers Needed
There is a lot to do to get ready for the day, and you can help! Jobs include food prep and service (day before and day of), set up, take down, and activity coordination. If you are interested in lending a hand during this community event, please contact Pete Hudson.
On the 22nd, Davey Johnson will serve up four varieties of paella, Gabe Woods will return to refill or replace fire extinguishers, the Bubble Guy will be replaced by the Bubble Lady, Kathleen Roberts will paint faces, and emcee Heather Lerner will present a great lineup of local musicians, with more to come. So don’t miss this very special free community get-together!
