As we approach the summer solstice, the combination of lunar phase and the solar aphelion (when earth is most distant from the sun) generate especially high tides. Tides that exceed 6.5′ can cause flooding on Gate 5 Road in Sausalito, in low-lying areas of Marin City and in some floating home roads and parking lots.
High tides exceeding 6.5′ are predicted for:
- Tue. 6/4 10:21 p.m. 6.7’
- Wed. 6/5 11:02 p.m. 6.7’
- Thurs. 6/6 11:44 p.m. 6.7’
Due to these seasonal high tides, Caltrans has closed the lower half of the Manzanita Park and Ride parking lot from May 30 to June 7.
