In late June, Issaquah Dock Rep Edo Castro received a letter congratulating the dock on winning a 2019 Sausalito Beautiful Beautification Award for community effort.
These Beautification awards were originally created to spotlight members of the community who have made their little part of the world more beautiful. This is the idea behind the community effort award that Issaquah Dock received.
Local business properties and a group of community members were selected to receive awards because they’ve either made a substantial recent improvement or have continued to maintain an existing property in an aesthetically pleasing condition which serves to beautify the surrounding neighborhood. Most recently there were 5 awards given out: north Sausalito, Caledonia area, Downtown, secret garden, and community effort. The entire Waldo Point Harbor won a similar award last year.
Members of Issaquah Dock are invited to join Sausalito Beautiful in the July 4th Parade with Grand Marshals Shelby Van Meter (Sausalito Beautiful founder) and her husband, local activist Peter Van Meter. An awards ceremony will be held in late July to honor this year’s winners. The time and place of the ceremony will be reported in the Floating Times.
