Last week we quoted a projection from the Marin Independent Journal that sea levels would rise “more than 6 feet by 2100,” according to the California Ocean Protection Council. Soon after our post appeared, the IJ issued a correction, changing the projection to one foot of sea level rise over the next 75 years. Not as dramatic, but still a substantial threat.
Gaetan Lion, an independent researcher writing for the Marin Post, also caught the error and issued his own wonky analysis which concludes: “a range of sea level rise between 1 and 1.6 feet by 2100 is already quite high. The over 6 feet mentioned in the IJ article reflects a misunderstanding of the mentioned COPC report.”
