Chili cooks who believe they’re hot stuff are invited to register for the 44th Annual Chili Cook-Off in Dunphy Park on Saturday, September 23.
There is no cost to enter the cook-off, and Sausalito Parks and Recreation will even kick in $50 to help each team with their supplies budget. Teams are required to make at least 15 gallons of chili, and cooking must be done on-site.
Chefs are encouraged to register by August 25 to get their team listed on the commemorative apron. Two aprons will be given to each booth.
As in past years, teams will compete in three contest categories: Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice, and Best Booth. This year’s cook-off has a pirate theme.
Unlimited tasting wristbands for the Chili Cook-Off can be purchased in advance for $25 via the City website or for $30 at Dunphy Park on September 23. The hours of the event are 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
New for 2023, cook-off attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a chili pepper eating contest. Details on participating will be published in an upcoming edition of Currents.
Any questions about the Chili Cook-Off may be directed to Sausalito Parks and Recreation at recreation@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4152.
