HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED OR DECIDED ON AT THE JULY 9 FHA BOARD MEETING. MORE DETAILS WILL BE REPORTED LATER IN THE FLOATING TIMES
In FHA Treasurer Linda Futrell’s absence, President Pete Hudson reported that as of June 30, year-to-date income of $51,148 comes to 78% of budget and expenses of $50,503 are 69% of budget, with a YTD profit of $696.27. Cash on hand at month-end was $26,704.
Pete announced that his term as president, and those of Vice President Liz Brott and Secretary Candice Gold, will expire at the end of the year. Pete officially opened nominations for those positions. To nominate yourself or someone else, contact Pete. Nominees will be invited to attend Board meetings in person or on Zoom to familiarize themselves with current Board issues.
Dock rep elections will be held in November. Dock reps who don’t intend to continue are encouraged to recruit their replacements.
The FHA is planning a Fall Fundraising event, perhaps a yard sale or an evening concert series. Longer-term fundraising ideas include publishing a cookbook of waterfront recipes or an anthology of art and writing by floating home residents. If you have other suggestions, please submit them to the FHA by September 1 for discussion at the September 10 Board Meeting.
Marketing/PR Chair Julie Durbin introduced Paschal Sabatella of SGD Advertising, who will be working with her to upgrade and standardize sponsor ads on the website and in the Floating Times. Julie anticipates that this work will enable her to sell more ads to local sponsors.
Legislative Action Committee (LAC) chair Sasha Cole announced that a meeting had been set with Waldo Point Harbor officials to discuss fees recently imposed on WPH homeowners. That meeting has now been held, along with a similar meeting with Ken Watsey, harbormaster of Kappas Marina. The LAC feels progress is being made with both marinas. More specifics will be reported when they are firm.
Floating Times Editor Larry Clinton is looking for a volunteer to back him up on Mailchimp and WordPress software. If you can help, please contact Larry.
Pete reported that the FHA membership database has been complicated because of problems exiting the old membership platform, Wix, to move the membership function to our new website platform, memberplanet. FHA members who did not respond to an April request to join memberplanet have been sent another invitation to join. Once this is done, payment issues should be cleaned up.
