At Marin Lately, the Laugh’s On Us

Thanks to the Pacific Sun for shining a light on a new satirical website called Marin Lately.

Marin Lately describes itself as a unserious publication with a provincial focus and limited ambitions. The site proclaims, “We are controlled by shadowy interests and thus unable to disclose any additional information.”

Pacific Sun writer Nikki Silverstein recently described her efforts to uncover who those Shadowy interests might be. Her discovery: “The registered owner of the website? Name redacted for privacy. The address of the private party? In Reykjavik.”

In the spirit of our own dear, departed Cyra McFadden, Marin Lately pokes fun at Only in Marin-style flaws and foibles. As an example, here’s a recent item about Sausalito:

Sausalito Bright Spot Amid National Slowdown in Alcohol Consumption

As more and more Americans cut down or abstain completely from alcohol, Sausalito is holding steady — especially after having its first boilermaker of the day. “We are the resistance,” said Luke and David Martinez, Smitty’s regulars who live in the Banana Belt with their three-year-old margarita machine.
