Do you think that because you live in a house that floats you needn’t worry about the rising sea level?  Well, if you do, you may find yourself an island. Sea level rise and the consequent flooding along the floating home community shoreline can threaten access to our homes, hamper emergency response, and disrupt the utilities on which we depend.

Join the City of Sausalito to explore projected flooding and sea level rise impacts across our community. This community-wide event will be held on September 7th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at The Spinnaker at 100 Spinnaker Dr, Sausalito.

All are welcome. RSVP encouraged.

Spend the morning learning about coastal vulnerabilities and what adaptation strategies are possible along our shoreline. Speak with adaptation professionals and local leaders. There will be activities for kids and a raffle for prizes. Light refreshments will be provided. An online community survey will also be available after the event for those who cannot attend in person.

About the Program . . .  The Sausalito Shoreline Adaptation Plan is a planning effort of the City of Sausalito that will help Sausalito (i) protect our community from surface and groundwater flooding due to sea level rise, (ii) enhance shoreline recreation, (iii) maintain vital transportation and utility corridors, (iv) provide continued Bay access for water-related businesses, and (v) enhance marshes and beaches with nature-based solutions. The plan will include an update of existing vulnerability assessments, documentation of community visions for the future, and a framework that identifies near-term, medium-term and long-term adaptation opportunities along the shoreline.
