HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED OR DECIDED ON AT THE MAY 14 AND JUNE 11 FHA BOARD MEETINGS. MORE DETAILS WILL BE REPORTED LATER IN THE FLOATING TIMES.
The May Board meeting focused on the results of a legal opinion that some fees and costs recently imposed by various marinas on their tenants appear impermissible under the Floating Homes Residency Law (FHRL). That legal opinion was discussed in the Floating Times on May 22.
In the June meeting, Treasurer Linda Futrell noted that not all the proceeds from the FHA’s Day in the Park had been received, so the month of May ended with a net loss of $4,928. Cash on hand at the end of May came to $27,454.
Legal Action Committee Chair Joe Novitski reported that the LAC was concentrating on arranging meetings with the marinas to discuss the legality of recent fees and costs being passed on to residents. The committee is also preparing to poll the community to determine whether there’s consensus on amending the FHRL.
FHA Secretary Candice Gold reported that the Private Tour Committee was partnering with a local tour company through Chamber of Commerce to offer public walking tours.
Emergency Preparedness Chair Flo Hoylman announced that Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) sessions will be held in the fall.
FHA President Pete Hudson shared that Charlie Wagner, Carole Angermeier’s son and the partner of FHA webmaster Stanton, passed away June 10. Pete will coordinate with Stanton when she returns to work to prioritize work on the FHA website. Pete also acknowledged that the previous web platform, Wix, has continued to bill people for FHA membership, even though the association moved to a different platform, MemberPlanet, in April. He and Stanton are working to resolve this issue.
Pete also stated that there will be no fall Day in the Park, and he is compiling ideas for other fundraising events. If you have any suggestions or would like to help, contact Pete.
WPH harbormaster Bill Price informed Pete that future DITP events will not include wine, shopping cart races, or tiny horses, due to insurance restrictions.
