Marin City will host a Labor Day Community Gathering and Car Show at the 100 block of Drake Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2. All are welcome at this free event featuring music, amazing automobiles, food vendors, jumpers for kids, school supply giveaways, and much more. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on the grass.
Later in the same week, on Thursday, September 5, there will be a reception at the Civic Center Library (3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA, room 427) honoring The Legacy of Marin City, A California Black History Story (1942-1960). This exhibit, on view at Civic Center Library and at all 10 branches of the Marin County Free Library, showcases Black history in California and around the nation, revealing the true–life stories of Black Americans with tremendous faith, courage, heart and soul.
The reception will feature a talk by curator Felecia Gaston, author of A Brand New Start…This is Home, and music by the renowned soul accordionist Andre Thierry. Light refreshments will be served from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All Library events are free.
