HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED AT THE JULY 8 FHA BOARD MEETING. MORE DETAILS WILL BE REPORTED LATER IN THE FLOATING TIMES.
FHA Events Chair BettyAnn Kram requested that a committee be formed to make the final decisions regarding the format of Day in the Park (DITP). The Committee is Peter Miller, Pete Hudson, Alex Schoer, Larry Clinton, Linda Futrell, Karen Tischler and BettyAnn. A Zoom/in person meeting will be arranged since BettyAnn is on the East Coast until October 15.
Treasurer Linda Futrell reported that the FHA operated in the black during the month of June. Cash on hand is $9,500. There was discussion on how to fund projected projects such as DITP activities, legal costs, plus website and other miscellaneous expenses.
President Peter Miller noted that there is a good chance that AB 754, amending the current floating home rent control legislation, will be signed into law by year end. The FHA drafted a letter to the community providing an update and 4 documents to be circulated by the dock reps. Reps will be instructed to share it with their dock neighbors, requesting that they send individual letters of support.
Past President Pete Hudson thanked everyone who had contributed to the Dock Reps manual and promised that the final document will be coming out soon.
Gate 6 ½ Dock Rep Larry Clinton floated the idea of forming an Underwriter Membership Level, with participants committing to a monthly FHA donation earmarked for specific projects such as bike storage, parking lot security control, support of the Annual Meeting and DITP. The new Fundraising Committee of Peter, Alex Schoer, Mark Bower, Taylor Ray, Larry, and Aditi Iyer will meet shortly. Board Secretary Karen Tischler will circulate a 2024 Bike Project proposal to the Board.
Peter reiterated that the FHA will host a tour for students from Sausalito Sister City Sakaide, Japan, on July 28. Two homes will be open on Gate 6 ½. Peter also noted that Private Tours Chair Lewis Shireman is looking for 2 boats for an August 14 tour for 20 people from Sun City Roseville. Onward Groups, a travel logistics company, has agreed to book 6 tours for up to 30 people per tour from May-Sept 2026.
Pete will create and circulate the “Why Join the FHA” poster to be posted on dock bulletin boards.
FHA VP Alex Schoer announced that notices of upcoming high tide trash cleanups are being posted in the Floating Times, as well as on the FHA website Events page and on Dock Peeps.
