In the interest of alleviating congestion and addressing sea level rise in the Tam Junction and Manzanita areas, staff members from the County of Marin are holding a meeting on April 15 to introduce a new study that looks at the future of both areas.

At the Tam Valley Community Center (203 Marin Avenue), starting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 15th, staff from the Community Development Agency (CDA) will seek public comment to determine community priorities around issues like community vitality, safety, access and resiliency for the study area to draft a community-driven request for proposals from qualified consultants.

A public engagement effort, including several community meetings, surveys, and the formation of an advisory group, will begin once a consultant has been chosen this fall.

The interdisciplinary project team will conduct a collaborative and hands-on community engagement effort to research, assess feedback from the residents and business owners, and publish a report

Tam Junction and Manzanita are challenged by traffic congestion from local residents and businesses as well as from visitors traveling through the area to coastal West Marin, Mount Tamalpais State Park, and Muir Woods National Monument. Also, both waterfront areas on the west side of Richardson Bay are often inundated with winter storm surges, king tides, and longer-term sea level rise.

Anyone may sign up to receive emailed updates on the project or send an email to CDA staff.
