HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE DISCUSSED AT THE OCTOBER 14 FHA BOARD MEETING. MORE DETAILS WILL BE REPORTED LATER IN THE FLOATING TIMES.
- For the fourth month in a row, FHA Treasurer Linda Futrell reported a net gain in income. All sponsors are fully paid up. Two donations were received: one anonymous and one from Tam Morgan. Donations can be made on the FHA website. Cash on hand is $14,183.52.
- FHA President Peter Miller announced that the FHA’s amended rent control legislation, AB 754, has been signed into law and will be in place until at least 2038. Peter called it, “A win-win for all and a great job done!” A celebration is being planned to include marina operators and local politicians who worked with the FHA’s Legislative Action Committee on this major accomplishment.
- In response to questions from dock reps, Linda reiterated that the FHA will reimburse docks for expenses for parties or dock projects, up to $10 per berth. Dock reps must submit receipts and the FHA Reimbursement Form by Dec 31 because the reimbursement does not carry over year to year.
- Public Relations and Marketing chair Julie Durbin reported that the September 17 Chamber of Commerce Mixer was a success with 30-35 attendees. Two tours were given out from the drawing, one to Judyth Greenburgh who is going to use it for the Charles Van Damme fund- raising efforts in a silent auction, the other to the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Many thanks to those who donated food and drinks, with leftover wine and beer available for the Chamber tour and LAC celebration.
- Floating Times editor Larry Clinton and Carole Angermeier of East Pier are working on adding sponsors to our Service Providers list on the FHA website.
- Private Tours chair Lewis Shireman presented pricing guidelines for private tours for Board approval, and they were approved unanimously, with the addition of a Historic Walking Tour with one boat open at $35 per person. Lewis will have the Private tour page of the FHA website updated accordingly.
- Past President Pete Hudson announced that the website is now ready to accept ad content and payments from new sponsors. Look for a future announcement in the Floating Times.
- Emergency Preparedness chair Flo Hoylman is setting up a date for Red Cross volunteers to inspect, install, and replace interested boat owners’ smoke alarms. More details will be announced later.
- Environmental Committee chair Joe Novitski reported that the Sausalito Shoreline Adaptation Plan is now in place, thanks to a Volunteer Committee and to former Mayor Janelle Kellman, who secured a grant to finance the effort and hired the consultants who came up with the Plan. The Plan is available on the city’s website.
