The Floating Homes Association is seeking volunteers for the Private Tour Committee.
FHA walking tours and tours of floating homes engage visitors interested in learning more about this special place we call home. In recent years these tours have been the chief source of funding for the FHA, and they offer an opportunity for our community to project a positive image of the richness of floating home living. Tour participants are invariably awed by seeing our colorful docks and homes.
The FHA Tour Committee plans, coordinates, and staffs these small group tours with volunteers from throughout the community. You can learn more about the tours on the FHA website home page.
Thanks to the efforts of Teddie and other past committee volunteers, the tour infrastructure is already in place. Teddie has a list of homeowners willing to open their homes for the tours and others willing to guide the visitors. She also has access to lists of senior citizen communities, destination management companies, and hotel concierges who can be solicited to book tours for their members or clients. The website is set up to allow people to request a tour reservation online.
In the past the tours have been very popular, with many groups coming back year after year. Now all we need are a few hospitable folks to pull it all together and begin marketing and organizing these tours. Teddie will be happy to meet with new committee members and to offer advice and insights for a successful tour program.
While Teddie is looking forward to traveling with her husband Brad, she’ll miss the fun, gratification and camaraderie of the private tours.
