El Niño is Coming! Play Your Part in Emergency Preparedness

We Have Big Rains and Huge Tides Coming This Fall; Become CERT-Trained

CERT = Community Emergency Response Team.

Having CERT-Trained folks on our docks helps in an emergency situation. If you’re already a trained CERT volunteer, please let your Dock Rep know. You can then formulate and communicate a plan of action.

However, if you’re interested in getting trained, GREAT! Contact the Southern Marin Community Emergency Response Team for more info.

The SMCERT program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their neighborhood and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Getting CERT-trained can make you a valuable part of your dock and overall community.

The CERT program offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

The 20-hour training is available from age 16 and up, and is currently accessible in both a hybrid and in-person format. The California CERT Program is housed under the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and is administered by FEMA.

Thank you to our current CERT-trained neighbors. You are a valuable part of our community.
