We recently reported that the City of Sausalito has taken the first step toward offering free parking in city lots to residents of unincorporated areas within ZIP code 94965. Now the City Council has also agreed to allow residents of unincorporated areas of the 94965 ZIP code to serve in a liaison capacity on six City of Sausalito boards and commissions.

The Council action represents one of a number of City of Sausalito initiatives currently underway to promote diversity and inclusion. Unincorporated areas outside Sausalito city limits include Marin City and the majority of the floating homes community.

The following six boards and commissions will be appointed a non-voting liaison from unincorporated 94965:

Community Safety/Disaster Preparedness Committee

Economic Development Advisory Committee

Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee

Sustainability Commission

Library Board of Trustees

Parks and Recreation Commission

City of Sausalito boards and commissions typically meet once per month in the afternoon or evening. Due to the restrictions posed by the public health orders to shelter in place, meetings are currently being held virtually via Zoom.

Residents of unincorporated 94965 who are interested in serving in a liaison capacity on one of the six boards and commissions are encouraged to fill out an application form on the City website. Appointments to boards and commissions will be made by the City Council after a review process that includes a virtual interview.

Any questions about applying to serve on a City of Sausalito board, commission, or committee may be directed to City Clerk Heidi Scoble at hscoble@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4134.
